Eye Examination Regulations
An eye examination is required for all students enrolling in kindergarten and any student enrolling for the first time in school in Illinois. The child must be examined within the previous year by a physician licensed to practice medicine in all its branches or a licensed optometrist before October 15th of the school year.
The department has VSP Eyes of Hope gift certificates available for those students who receive services through Medicaid or those who qualify for the free or reduced breakfast and lunch program. Contact your child’s school health office for further information.
