Dr. Adrian Talley

Dr. Adrian Talley began serving as superintendent of Indian Prairie School District 204 in July 2020. He has more than three decades experience in education. Before joining District 204, he spent five years as an administrator in Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS), one of the nation's 25 largest school districts, with 208 schools and centers, more than 130,000 students and 19,000 employees. The school system serves a diverse student population from urban, suburban, and rural communities located in the Washington, DC suburbs.

Before joining PGCPS, Dr. Talley was Principal Deputy Director and Associate Director of Education for the Department of Defense Education Agency (DoDEA) in Alexandria, Virginia. He oversaw the implementation of a $1.9 billion budget and was responsible for the instructional programs in DoDEA’s 181 schools serving 84,000 students of military families worldwide.

Dr. Talley also served as a central office administrator for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland. He held the positions of Director of School Performance and Community Superintendent before being named Associate Superintendent. During his tenure at MCPS, he established collaborative relationships with PTA leadership, community groups, business leaders and state elected officials to support district initiatives and the district’s strategic plan. He also managed 40 of the district’s schools with enrollment of more than 29,000 students in five high schools, eight middle schools, and 27 elementary schools. While part of the executive team at MCPS, the district won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for performance excellence.

Before becoming a central office administrator, Dr. Talley was the principal of two schools in two districts and taught in both MCPS and Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia.

Dr. Talley earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Virginia, his Master of Arts degree from Boston College, and his Doctorate degree from George Washington University.
