• Meet Mr. Mills

    Joe Mills​

    Mr. Mills has been teaching since 2002. He received his Bachelor's degree in industrial design at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and spent three years as a toy inventor in Chicago. He then went back to school to receive his Master's in Education from DePaul University and spent seven years teaching a number of subjects at Murray Language Academy in Hyde Park. When his wife got an opportunity to work in Sydney, Mr. Mills spent two years taking care of his newborn son while exploring Australia. After returning to the US, he worked part-time as an art teacher, watched after his two children, and built a successful business selling Chicago-themed artwork. He joined Spring Brook as the full-time art teacher in 2016. His favorite part about teaching art is helping students build their creativity and problem-solving skills.
