- Letter from our Principal
-
Hello and welcome to McCarty Elementary School, Home of the Mustangs and Mustang Pride!
I am very proud to be the principal at McCarty and a member of Indian Prairie District 204. I have always wanted to be an educator. As a child I "taught" my younger siblings in my self-made basement classroom and saved my money to purchase a large chalkboard and retired school textbooks. My desire to become a teacher ultimately led to earning my undergraduate degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University and my graduate degree in Leadership and Administration from North Central College.
I started in District 204 in 1998 so I have had the pleasure of watching the district grow and change. With growth comes new opportunities, which I have taken advantage of from time to time. I have been a teaching assistant, classroom teacher, coach, lead teacher, student services coordinator, assistant principal, and now principal. I am thankful for the variety of professional experiences, friendships, and mentors District 204 has afforded me and am beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the McCarty family.
Along with a wonderful professional career, District 204 is also where I met my husband. Marcus has been in the district for over 25 years as a middle school teacher. We have twin boys, Luke and Ryan. And our dog, Bowser!
Being a mother and educator, I am reminded every day of the awesome responsibility we have to positively impact the lives of our students. Accomplishing this requires a team effort and here at McCarty we love the opportunity to collaborate with parents. I look forward to working with you as we make this school year the best yet!
WE are McCarty!
Mrs. Fredericks, Principal
