Club Owen is a unique experience that is available for all K-5 students at Owen to start their day off with exercise and movement. Club Owen will give the students a true fitness club experience, allow them the opportunity to work with a “personal trainer”, and expose them to fitness classes. We’ve partnered with local fitness centers, yoga and dance studios, and martial arts dojos to provide unique classes for our students free of charge.

Club Owen will be open from 8:00 am until school starts. Some of the activities, exercises and classes that will be available include: Weighted Bars, Running, Exercise Balls, Hula Hooping, Yoga Class, Medicine Balls, Dumbbells, Tae Kwon Do Class, Resistance bands, Obstacle Courses, Aerobics, Dance Class, Jump Roping, Personal Training, Circuit Training, and Balance Boards

Inside Out Club was founded by local Mom, Marion Ruthig, in 2015. The program serves Elementary students K-5. This past Fall, Owen students in grades 1-3 were eligible to participate. We hope to expand to include other grade levels in the future. Inside Out Club focuses on empowering students to demonstrate kindness, empathy, and acceptance. Gratitude and self-awareness are additional skills the program strives to instill, as students work toward building character. Students participate in activities that help them learn, create, and give back. Students enjoy seeing the difference they can make, especially when they are able to donate to local nonprofit organizations.

At each gathering the Inside Club Pledge is read aloud by all members, as a reminder or what the club stands for.

Inside Out Club was led by PTA President, Kristin McDonald, Ms. Anco, Mrs. Glass, Mrs. Heraty, and Mrs. Molek.

Elementary Robotics for grades 4 + 5 is sponsored by the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation. Students are organized into teams. They design, build, and test their robots and share expertise and advice with other teams in preparation for a district-wide tournament amongst the other district elementary schools. Students use the VexIQ kits and components. The VexIQ competitions and arenas change every school-year, so students will always have a new experience! Click here to learn more about the VexIQ competitions.

Each year, 4th and 5th graders will get the chance to apply to join robotics. Due to limited robotics components, student participation is limited and students fill out an application to be considered.

Owen Running Club Spring 2023
 
Running Club will be open to 3rd/4th grade students at Owen Elementary School.  We will meet in the Gym after school and finish at 4:30. The specific meeting day/dates will come out prior to Spring Break.  Running Club will start right after Spring Break.  Look for permission slip and more details early March. 
 

We will run around the school on the sidewalk, use the blacktop and field for running games.  If the weather is bad and the gym/multipurpose is available, we will stay inside.  We will talk about healthy eating, ways to exercise, and goals.  The focus is positive self-esteem as we exercise.

Wise Owl Watchers is made up of 4th and 5th grade student leaders. These students help to make sure all students are dismissed safely (similar to a safety patrol) and serve as role-models/leaders within our school community. Students entering 4th and 5th grade (in August of 2024) are invited to apply to be Wise Owl Watchers for the 2024-2025 school year. The Yearbook Club is made up of fifth grade students. Job responsibilities are done collaboratively. Students must communicate effectively to complete the following duties which include: generating different ideas for the yearbook, choosing winners for the front and back cover, interviewing upcoming retirees, edit/layout pages, distribute books, and make school wide announcements.
