IAHPERD Blue Ribbon Award
Congratulations to the Waubonsie Valley Health Department on receiving Blue Ribbon recognition.
The health department just completed the yearlong Blue Ribbon application and evaluation process. Teachers Millie Shepich, Becky Goff and Adrienne Ryba spent the year reflecting, organizing and documenting the health program and how it best impacts the students at Waubonsie Valley. The process included evaluation of all aspects of the health program from details of daily lessons and teaching strategies to how the health program is imbedded and supported in the school. After completing the documentation and application process, there was a school site visit by the Blue Ribbon committee on March 12. During the full day visit, the evaluation team observed classes, interviewed teachers, support staff, administration, students and parents.
The evaluation team took their observations and documentation back for consideration and have determined that the Waubonsie Valley Health Program is a Blue Ribbon Program.
Thank you to the health team on their hard work and dedication to the students of Waubonsie Valley and their continued commitment to promoting health education. Congratulations on this recognition.
Special thank you to Mr. Stipp and the Waubonsie Valley administrative team on the continued support of the health curriculum. Additionally thanks to the many staff, students and parents that were interviewed on the day of the site visit.
