District 204 students named National Merit Scholars

The board salutes Metea Valley seniors, Sri Lakshmi Battula, Kevin Paul, and Kaushik Vemulapalli; Neuqua Valley seniors, Mohammad Fazalul Haque and Shivam Purohit; and Waubonsie Valley senior, Maya Sanny, who were recently named 2024 National Merit Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. These students were selected from more than 15,000 semifinalists who advanced to the Finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition.

The board salutes Fry Elementary fifth-grade student, Advik Dhand, who placed tenth nationally in the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Foundation’s Fall 2023 National InvestWrite®Competition. Illinois Teacher of the Year

The board salutes Georgetown Elementary fifth-grade teacher, Dr. Rachel Mahmood, who was recently named the 2024 Illinois Teacher of the Year by the Illinois State Board of Education. Dr. Mahmood is the first teacher in Indian Prairie School District to receive this honor.

Waubonsie Valley senior named U.S. Presidential Scholar

The board salutes Waubonsie Valley senior Sai Peddainti, who was recently named a U.S. Presidential Scholar. Sai is one of only 161 students chosen from across the country to receive this prestigious honor. U.S. Presidential Scholars are selected based on outstanding academic performance.

Metea Valley boys’ tennis wins Sectionals

The board salutes the Metea Valley boys’ tennis team for winning the Benet Academy 2A boys’ tennis sectional title. Their sectional win marks the Mustang’s first victory since 2021.
